With its all-round health benefits, Tai Chi has spread across the world from its roots in 17th century China. Increasingly recommended by health professionals as an ideal broad spectrum activity, Tai Chi is fantastic for body, heart and mind: -
Body - improve your strength, stability and flexibility
Heart - combining controlled breathing techniques with exercise means Tai Chi is great for the heart and lungs
Mind - Tai Chi strengthens your concentration and memory
Tai Chi - as a martial art
Chen Style Tai Chi Chuan is also a Chinese internal martial art. At White Tiger we welcome those who enjoy Tai Chi purely for health benefits, but we also cater for those wanting to learn how Tai Chi works as a highly effective martial art system.
We focus on structure and alignment, tension and relaxation, understanding body mechanics, the dantian, internal energy and whole body movement. We teach silk reeling, standing and moving open hand forms and ‘Push Hands’.
For those interested in doing so, we also study applications - exploring Tai Chi principles and moves and their potential in martial terms - and we teach weapon forms.
